A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
Brain & Body Health Inc. (BBH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization developing research and educational initiatives in cognitive health. We focus on whole-person research questions, transparent outcome evaluation, and scientific collaboration, helping families and professionals distinguish promising ideas from established evidence.
Specific studies, research sites, collaborators, and applicable ethical oversight will be identified as protocols are developed and approved.
Developing studies with qualified collaborators to measure changes in cognition, daily functioning, quality of life and other meaningful outcomes.
Clear explanations of what is known, what is emerging, and what is still unanswered in cognitive health.
Exploring potential relationships among oral health, the oral and gut microbiomes, systemic inflammation, metabolic and vascular health, and cognitive function, without assuming causality in advance.
Meaningful research begins with questions whose answers are not assumed. BBH seeks to understand whether an approach helps, for whom it may help, under what conditions it may need to change, and what its limitations may be. We support transparent reporting of positive, neutral and unfavorable findings.
Steven J.L. Larsen, J.D., Founder & President, is an attorney and senior executive with more than three decades of experience in senior living, residential care and real estate development. His family's experience with Alzheimer's disease made the questions behind BBH personal.
Mariana Espinassi, Director of Research and Scientific Collaboration, is a dental surgeon and researcher with more than 25 years of professional experience in Argentina and Spain. At BBH, she leads research development and interdisciplinary scientific collaboration focused on oral-systemic and cognitive health. Her role at BBH is exclusively research and scientific leadership.
